What causes Panic Kernel?

I have a MacBook Pro that seems to crash every time I am connected to the internet.

I have a wireless internet modem that connects into the USB socket.

I've noticed that whenever I am not connected to the net, my laptop is fine. Even if I have another USB stick inserted into the machine it is fine. However, once connected to the internet, the computer barely lasts 20 minutes before it crashes.

I use Safari and am beginning to suspect this application may be causing the Kernel Panics. I have switched to Firefox for this session, and thus far, there haven't been any issues (I've been on for well over 20 mins).

Has anyone ever encountered this issue, and if so, how can I fix this problem?

Thanks in advance, any feedback is much appreciated.

I'm willing to bet that the problem is actually the USB dongle. What make/model is it? Have you installed the Mac drivers properly?

The usb model is HUAWEI Model E220. It's a HSDPA usb modem.

Yep, drivers installed correctly. Since I've been using Firefox for this session, I've had no issues.

I'm going to log off and switch to Safari and see how I go...
