quick & dumb question about memory!

i kno this might dumb but im not really familiar with RAM memories and all
so i got a question for u experts.

i got a 13in macbook that has 2GB DDR3 Memory
but currently i am facing series of system overload error messages
whenever im working with my Logic Studio

and also it definitely got much much slower than i bought it
and it hasnt been an year.

so..
to make this computer to work better and faster

do i just to need to replace the memory to 4GB?

because im thinking about buying a display and use this macbook
instead of buying an iMac

so if i had 4GB memory on this one, would it work better?

It would definitely help out and work faster and smoother. If it is much slower than when you bought it, a fresh install will probably help out. 4 gb of ram and a fresh install should have your macbook running like new.

Definitely would make Logic run better with more RAM (more tracks at once). Of course if you were to buy one of the NEW iMacs you would see significant gains.

How much storage space is left on you HDD? If you are below 15% of your total space, that may be why your machine has slowed down so much. You might consider a bigger HDD, especially if you do a lot of photo and video work. To add to the other comments, additional RAM is a great idea. I believe in the old saying, "You can never have too much RAM!" One of the newer machines might be great, too, but do you really want to wait to find out?

@chipz; i hav about 25% left in my HDD so i guess i just need a new RAM?

He means pop in the additional memory, then boot from the OS disc, is it Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard as your post does not say, format the drive and install a brand new version of your OS X.

Adding additional memory is fine. Doing a fresh install to solve a problem is the last thing you should ever do. That is Windows mentality and it may or may not solve the problem.

You should try repairing permissions and using Onyx to see if that solves the problem first.

You might want to find your machine on a website like <lowendmac.com> or <everymac.com> to make sure your MacBook would recognize more than 2gb of ram. My Core 2 Duo will recognize up to 3gb, for example.
