Well, I've just installed it into the macbook, and am trying to install OS X Snow Leopard on it, but when it comes to "Select the disk where you want to install Mac OS X" the hard drive isn't appearing....
Yes Steven, you need to do that. If you are at the install screen, you can click the back button until you get to the initial screen or whatever screen. Up at the top you will see the usual menu bar with the Apple logo, File, etc.. Up there you will find one of the menu drop downs has the disk utility. That should get you what you need. Good luck!
