I have a Powerbook G4 and I was using battery power and the battery ran out, so I plug it into the wall and it does its restore bar thingy, and I then get the error screen say restart you Mac by holding the power button. but it keeps going back to that restore bar thing which is crashing everytime. any ideas?

Sounds like it went into 'safe sleep' mode partially before it lost all power. Try removing the power, removing the battery and then put them both back. Then try to boot it.

When it comes up to the kernel panic screen, have you actually held the power button down until it turns off?

I would probably take it to the people at the Apple store. They have great customer service. Hopefully they will help you fix the problem.

well I took apart the laptop last night and took a look around. Nothing was burnt or anything so I hit the power button and it turned on fine.
