Just bought this Hard Drive...any thoughts/opinions?

Seems pretty nice. Hope it is fast. Not too worried about noise or battery life. REALLY need the storage for my HiDef movies and photography.

Good drive, quiet, fast, and with 5 year warranty. I also like the speedy service provided by NewEgg. I purchased my last two hard drives from them.

However, considering you intend to use the drive for storage of HiDef movies, you're going to run out of space sooner than you think. I believe I would rather purchase a large external hard drive for storing HiDef movies and music instead. Maybe that can be your next purchase.

So happy to hear the positive feedback! The Hd movies are from my compact digital camera (Panasonic FX35). I do however, plan on getting a terabyte ext hd soon. And 500gb should last me at least 2 yrs.

i have the 5400 version and i love it. i have not had one problem. seagate is a very good choice in brand. i fill hard drives quickly so it is about half full and is just over 1 month old. i am waiting for the 1tb to be released but i have not heard anything of it yet.
