in need of desperate help macbook and lcd

Hey everyone! I really need some help...I just got a samsung t220 for my macbook (tiger) it's about 2 years old..I bought a dvi cable not the apple brand but the second party brand dynex...I connected everything however I'm not getting my desktop features....just the screensaver loads for some reason....I called samsung and they told me I need the driver. However, the cd that comes with the samsung t220 is only for windows. I was told if I don't have the driver then that's it... take it back. But many people said there t220 worked on there mac. I really need some understanding here and some help.

Make sure the new monitor is the default. If you can drag icons from one screen to the next, it is working.
