This thread really isn't complaining about any problems. I thought I'd just comment on my shinny new used 2nd-hand iBook Clamshell. Its the 466mhz firewire, dvd version. I bought it off ebay and also bought a 512mb stick of ram and a power adaptor. The power adaptor was the wrong one, it had a smaller plug end. (anyone know what this one is for? Or better yet, anyone want to buy it???) Installing Tiger on it was a breeze, a 30-40 min breeze lol! Although its noticeably slower than my Macbook, its usable and also serves to show me how fast my Macbook really is! I've been using a firewire cable to surf the net and download updates etc and it was a breeze to hook up!!! I ned an airport card tho.... Ok well I guess i've kinda rambled on ere abit....lol! Anyone else have an iBook clamshell? Hearing other peoples opinions and experiences on these lil machines would be great!!!

i just got one a little less than two weeks ago from ebay. it's tangerine and although it's only 192 mb with 6 gigs it's fine for light internet surfing and word process which is why i got it. i'm a struggling writer so anything that functions is good enough for me. i will however at some point would like to add more memory or get another laptop. (from what i've read here so far many have said it's not worth it to upgrade) Any suggestions on to upgrade with memory or not? Or which model i should move up to? I just purchased 120gb external hd to say all of my precious photos and plays.

The ram upgrade was cheap. I think I payed $20 for the chip and another $15 for shipping. Its noticeably faster with 512 plus the 64 built in. It was easy t add as well. pop the keyboard open, remove 2 screws then pull back the shield n put the ram in.
