I just replaced my 2 year old MBP with a new $1999 one (gifted the old one to my sister...good karma for me).

My new MBP is fast as heyl and I love it. One thing that concerns me is that when I plug it in, the green/red light on the power cord insert does not come on and it does not charge. This happens sporadically. It doesn't his 100% then not charge anymore, it just doesn't charge period.

Anyone have this experience? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Trapzilla

Have you got nice clean connections? Though I can't imagine it's that dirty if it's new...

Mine does this also, why? I dunno. I just put a little pressure on the plug to slightly move it and it lights up. Does not do it all the time, I would say about 25% of the time. I guess I have not been concerned enough about it to take it back to apple, maybe I should? It has done this since day one and has not gotten any worse.

I would check this one out first if I were you. Try a couple things you know work, if you haven't already, then resort to the ever-loving return trip to Apple.

Take it in. Apple is quite lenient with swapping adapters. I've got mine replaced three times in six months due to various problems (i.e. heat, noise, whine, LED light broken).

Mines started going out after installing 10.5.2 or 1. To me its a good thing the light will go out when the battery is done charging. If I don't touch it turning on my macbook pro won't bring it back. If i disconnect it and reconnect it, it will turn back on. I actually like it off because I have my MBP charging near my bed and the green/yellow light on the power annoys me. My power adapter still charges my MBP and still supplies power to the computer when it is turned on whether the light is on or not so I don't care.
If I look at hard enough it is actually really dim green when it is off.

just checking in to say that this is happening to mine as well. I have a wiggle it a bit, or put pressure on it. Its concerning, because I bought mine in Canada, but live in Europe and have no idea where to take it into here, and knowing the customer service in this country, i'd have to give up my MBP for moooonnnths.

Similar situation

Yesterday I purchased a new power cord from the Apple Store and used it this morning for the first time. I wanted a cord that I could move to different areas of the house or outside without having to unplug my main one. I'm back at my original power cord and now it turns green when I plug it in but then turns orange after about three seconds. The icon shows that it is charging but the screen is much dimmer. Suggestions?

If you call apple, they will replace it. They did for mine. Super fast shipping ect.
