I got the back of my Mac Book wet by spilling a glass of water near it. The computer immediately turned off. I tried drying it the best I could. I even removed the battery and dried that off. I tried to power up again and nothing happens. What should I do? Should I plug it in the charger and see it turns on that way? Is my computer dead now?

It's possible that it may be OK once it's had some time to dry out. I'd let it alone without the battery plugged in for at least 48 hours. If it doesn't work after that, yes, it's likely that something shorted, causing a hardware failure.

Just a tip for future reference - if ever you get something electronic wet, it's important to immediately remove power (if it's safe to do so) and allow it plenty of time to try before plugging the power back in again. Aside from the possibility of corrosion, moisture isn't the end of the world, providing that there is no power passing through the circuit boards.
