Hello all,

Well I'm new to mac's and I just have a question relating to the punctuality of Apple or maybe not. Anyway lets begin, the shop that I have purchaed my new G5 2.0GHz mac + Ati radion 9700 from has taken the order from me and a small deposit...but that is now well over a month ago and I still haven't received anything from them  So I'm in a position at the moment of doing the usual thing of keep ringing them up every other day and asking where it is but all they say is roughly the same 3 things:

1."because I upgraded the gfx card it's now classed as a custom build"
2."Apple don't give out eta's on custom builds"
3."they (apple) don't have anywhere to contact to chase orders up"

now I can believe the first two to some extent but the 3rd sounds like a load of old pants to me...as I've said I'm new to Mac's and have never had any of there products before so I don't know what they are like, re customer relations...is this the kind of treatment Apple give there customers or I'm I being feed a load of bull?

My business is a stake I'm starting to pull my hair out with frustration!!!

ps I'm in the UK

If this is an Apple store. See if that they can work out a loaner for while you are waiting for yours to come in. They might be able to work something out, since they don't want to lose your business.

It does not hurt to ask.

No it doesn't sound as if he is getting it from an apple store... sounds like he ordered it from apple.com, there isn't much you can do except calling apple repeatedly and demanding to talk to someone with some authority. Then tell him(or her) your situation, they will hopefully help you out.

I don't want to be a bother, but I'm not sure if you chose the best title for this topic. I mean, the title makes it sound like the actual performance of the product is poor, and not what you intend for it to mean (that the delivery of the product is a slow process). If you post here in the future, try to think carefully about a topic's title before you post.

yes i agree, when i opened this topic i expected to find a complaint about there powermac not operating correctly. Next time try a title like "apple slow on shipping powermac" etc.

It's bull.
1 is ok, 2 &3 are wrong.

I got a bto ibook a while back (apple store mind you) and in my e-mailed order confirmation I had a link to the apple store website where i was able to see the current status of my ibook and it's predicted shipping date.

Very useful, and gives you something to do whilst waiting (i bet those pages get hundreds of hits a day ;))

So ask them to do better!

I like to buy my computers from local stores... I bought my iMac from an apple store(Not an "apple' store but a store that is certified) and then they can upgrade it ASAP and i can pick it up whenever.
