Memory and HD

A friend of mine has a G4 Power mac and has order more memory and a new hard drive. Can some one tell me how hard it is to install new memory and hard drive in this?

In a G4? Pretty easy, the case opens up no problem and access to the memory slots should be pretty unhindered. Piece of cake.

HD install problem..

I installed memory which was easy, but when I installed the 2nd HD the system does not see it. I call Seagate which in turn told me to call Apple.
Has anyone had this problem before and can tell me what I need to do to fix it?

I have no clue which model of Power Mac G4 your friend has, you didn't mention any specifics, specs or OS version either, so this might be for nothing but I'm gonna take a stab in the dark.

This might be the problem.

I have the Mac here now, but how do I find out the specifics.
When powering up it show OS X.
What spec's would you need?

The window will display all the information you need on the Mac.

How do I tell if the system supports 48-bit addressing or if it

I guess you didn't click on the link I provided in my first post at the beginning of this thread: it has links to all the Power Macs of that era with a description of each model with CPU speeds.

Click on each G4 model and, by looking at the specs of each model, that will help you determine with which exact model you are working with at the moment and all that you are wondering about.
