Well, I was thinking of doing this, but my dad tried something with my Mini last night that is making me think otherwise. He couldn't get a DVD image to work right on his PC that I made on my Mac, so he took an enclosure, and a DVD burner, and connected it via USB to my Mini.

Worked perfectly, and I was able to burn the DVD. Just my 2 cents, as it may be cheaper for you to look into an external DVD burner rather than opening up the mini and installing a superdrive.

Very true statement, along with that you may be able to get an external enclosure and a DVD burner that is actually faster than the superdrive that Mac offers. I can tell you from experience that when it comes to burning DVDs & such, I use my PC, because it is much faster, although I do prefer to use Handbrake on my Mac for ripping DVDs for iPod, just because it's a nice, one-step process, whereas it takes a few steps on my PC with the tools I have.
