iMac Monitor cleaner?

HI All,
Just wondering if any one can me a definitive answer about cleaning an iMac mid-2010 monitor. some say, water on a microfiber cloth, some say vinegar and distilled water, some say iClean, some say never use iClear.

Water seem marginally effective so I'm wondering if there's anything else I should be using.

I'm trying to get a dirty monitor cleaned up and it just keeps smearing.

No water, not even a damp cloth. The problem with the iMac displays up until the 2012 models is that there are open vents at the top and bottom of the display. It's just too risky even getting near those vents with any kind of liquid. What I would use is lens cleaner tissues that are treated. They're soft, anti-static, and will not leave any residue.

On my 2013 iMac (which has no top or bottom vents) I use liquid lens cleaner on a soft lens cleaner tissue. I apply a small amount to the tissue first and wipe gently until the streaks are gone.
