No spell checker after Yosemite upgrade
After the recent Yosemite upgrade I noticed that I was no longer prompted by spell check when typing on Chrome. No matter what website I was on my incorrect spellings just sat there. I checked my emails in Mail and found that spelling which usually autocorrects wasn't changing. I checked Safari and spell check was not working there either.

I have checked the setting for Chrome, Safari, Mail and System Preferences, and they all have the correct spell check options selected but spell check is just not working for any programme on the entire computer.

Since the Yosemite upgrade, Word spell checker is not working...while document is located in the cloud? Is there a fix for this?

Do you have any third party apps installed that make changes to Finder or other system items?

I have pages/numbers keynote installed on my Imac. Not sure if there are any other that may interfere. However, Pages/Numbers and Keynote are not supported yet for Yosemite. Hence, they have not been used for quite some time. I have checked all settings...auto correct capitalization works. but no misspelled words are identified.

Wrong about Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. They have been updated for Yosemite and are fully supported. Actually they were updated the same day Yosemite was released. (Just some info for you.)

Sometimes add on apps that make changes to Finder (TotalFinder, PathFinder, etc) if not updated, can cause problems. If you have none of those or any other add ons, I'm at a loss to understand what could be preventing the built in spell check to work.

Would Keynote/Pages and Numbers cause this issue?

I don't think so, but you never know what interaction Apple apps have with OS X in general. So why don't you update your Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps to find out?

And let's keep this thread all together. I merged your post about Word and spell checking to this thread. Do not start a new thread.

Can you check my Finder file and see if you detect anything? I would greatly appreciate it, the screenshot .png file of finder window is attached. Thank you for your help.

I don't see anything that could interfere but it may be something that does not show up in the Launchpad app.

But I did notice that you're running Logos 5 and Proclaim. I no longer have a need for Proclaim but I still run Logos 5. I've resisted the temptation to upgrade to Logos 6.

Is this a better view? I took both from Finder, just different views. What do you use rather than Proclaim?

Still don't see anything that could cause the problem. I'll keep looking though and if I come up with something, I'll post back to this same thread.

As for Proclaim, we no longer have a need for Worship software since all of our ministry work is done now as outreach. I've retired from active pastoring in a church environment and volunteer at several nursing homes doing Bible studies and conducting Sunday services for them. My only assistant is my wife.

I did a clean install, and the issue was still present before I installed any new apps.
