My Mac mini 2012 with lion os x won't start up and stays on the grey screen with the wheel loading and sometimes while on the grey wheel screen it just instantly goes to no signal with the computer on the monitor and if I want to try and start up the computer again I have to hold the power utton for 5 seconds and then press it again. The only thing I can access on the computer is my window 7s which I have on bootcamp which I access by pressing alt on start up and this seems to be working fine but I want to be using my apple operating system. This just happened randomly one day and I hadn't used windows 7 through bootcamp before this happened for months but now I'm forced to use it. Please Help Me

Reboot your Mac Mini while holding down the Command + R keys at the same time as soon as you hear the boot sound. That should boot the Mini into "Recovery". Once in recovery, go to utilities and open Disk Utility. Use Disk Utility to verify your hard drive. Let us know the result.

I note there's been no response thus far, but adding my two bob's worth, I'd recommend booting the Mini from an external DVD drive with the original OS dvd that came with the new Mini. Then open Disk Utilities > First Aid to verify and, if required, repair the Mini HD. If advice re booting from an external device is required, post back here.

Do you get an OS DVD these days?

2012 model there would be no DVD mate, and Snow Leopard may well not boot the machine. All the more reason for a USB thumb drive withnoperating system that is bootable.

I verified the macintosh hd and and got this message : Invalid Key Length / The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely / Error : This disk needs to be repaired

When I clicked on repair I got this message : Disk utility can't repair the disk. Back up as many of files as possible and reformat the disk.

What do I do next and how would i back up my files and also reformat or do I not need to follow these steps?
