    RAM on latest machines
Looks like the only user upgradable RAM on any of Apple's computers is now only available on the 27 inch iMac, so far as I can see.
The cynic in me says Apple doesn't want you buying stuff from other sources.
Shame really. I was about to upgrade my old iMac, but not too keen now. I think the 27 inch is way too big for my purposes.

You would be correct there..but at the same time, the default memory has been bumped up to 8GB and I have to imagine that for the vat majority of users, that is going to be sufficient memory and for the handful that need more, they'll just have to pony up to upgrade..

Keep in mind that 8GB of ram is at 1600MHz compared to older units at 1067 and 1333.

I was paying $350 for two high end 512 MB 133MHZ sticks in my gaming rigs.
Feel like I was getting ripped off now.
Too senile to remember what the price was before those.
