    iMac HD compatibility
I purchased this HD, thinking it was compatible with the early 2008 iMac, but opening it up, it seems very small and thin, maybe too small. I'm wondering if it is the right one. It's this one- Amazon.com: Seagate Momentus 320 GB SATA 7200 RPM 2.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive ST903203N3A1AS-RK: Electronics

    Is this compatible?

    Specs:
    27" iMac i7 (2011) 10.10, iPhone6, iPad Air 2, AppleTV2
If you're talking about replacing the disc inside your iMac then it should be a 3.5" disk

A 2.5" sata disk has the same data and power connections but it won't fit correctly. You also need to consider the temperature sensor.

I'd recommend looking up your iMac on the ifixit site

Yes, the HD inside my iMac. I did pick up the 2.5". So, I need the 3.5" disk, I'm gathering? Dangit.

    Specs:
    iMac i5 2.7GHz, 16GB memory, OS 10.10.5
Yep 3.5" desktop hard drive for your iMac. Now you have the laptop drive pop it in an external case and use for backups. USB will be fine however the case needs to be able to take SATA drives.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
