    Need abit of help please.
    Hello Guys.

I bought my MacBook Pro 15" around 1 week ago now, I've just installed Counter-Strike Source, and when i play the Mac goes really hot, I downloaded a program called "smc fan control" it shows that the mac goes around 80-85 celsius and around 4000rpm. Is this normal or could it ruin/brake my mac?

The spec of my Mac is
    Intel Core i7 processor
    2.0GHz
    Quad core
    AMD Radeon HD 6490m graphics
    Intel HD graphics 3000
    500GB hard drive

If you need any more information please ask

    Thanks

    Ashley

    Specs:
    09 MBP 8GB ram 500GB HD OS 10.9 32B iPad 4 32GB iPhone 5 iOs7 2TB TC Apple TV3
There are built in thermal sensors that will shut the unit down before damage but you
could elevate the back of the MBP one inch for a little better cooling also you may want to run the game at a lower frame rate.

I have run my now 4 1/2 yr old MBP during 6-8 hour sessions of gaming a great number of times over the course of it's life so far. During which it could be 90+C.

The only thing you should do, is make sure you're not playing with it sitting on your lap (unless you like having semi-permanent red marks on the top of your legs) without a laptop stand. Or for that matter, on any other surface that would block the air flow at the hinge area of the machine.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

    Specs:
Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
....and get rid of SMC or any other monitoring apps unless you are able to use it for curiosity rather than freaking yourself out like so many do having these apps running.
*I have it installed, and used to have it up and running all the time, and when I was on long skype video calls, it used to distract me seeing the temps rise and the fans take off, enough for me to end the calls!
Since I don't have it running anymore, I now have ongoing calls without cutting them short.
The temps haven't changed, the fan speed hasn't changed, and my near 4yo MB which even suffered a liquid spill, is still chugging along like a real trooper (lucky as far as the liquid spill goes, but definitely not the norm)!
Apple engineers know what they're doing when they design these things!
