Has anyone done this, or does anyone have a brilliant idea about how I might lower the height of a (recent) iMac. I'm weighing up the options of 1) a refurbished Intel iMac or 2) a new Mac Mini plus monitor.
The Mini is leading the contest at present, but the iMac is pushing hard because of its superior performance, built-in camera, etc.
If I can lower an iMac from its height of 469 mm (18.5") to 425 mm (17"), without doing major damage to the stand, it'll fit nicely between the top of the work desk, and the base of the shelf above.
Would someone with a recent iMac please measure and tell me the distance from front to back of its stand base (see attachment), thank you.ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Here's a possibly "crazy expensive" idea...but thought that I would throw it out there just in case:
Bretford MobilePro Desk Mount - Apple Store (U.S.)
There may be some similar (non-Apple) options out there too.

The distance you are looking for depends on which model you get. The 27in model has a larger foot to deal with the larger and heavier screen to hold up.Blog and Photo Gallery: http://philolin.me/
