Are hard drives compatible with G4

Hello
I wonder if someone can give me some advice
We have a number of old powermac g4's at work which are still quite useful for certain tasks.
I am planning to change the hard drives on them to a faster speed.
The drives I am planning to use are Western Digital HP P/N 345713-005 WD800JD SATA 80Gb
Although I know how to change out the drive, I am not sure as to whether these drives are mac compatible.
Can someone please let me know what is the easiest way to check this - I have been onto WD, website but can't find that model number
If anyone could advise I would be very greatful

Powermac G4 hard drives are IDE...you mentioned having SATA hard drives. SATA HD's won't work in a Powermac G4 (not a direct swap). If you really need to use these SATA drives...you may be able to get an expansion card for the Powermac G4(s)...to allow the use of SATA HD's.

Otherwise you need to get IDE drives...just so you know...many Powermac G4 models have a 128gig hard drive size limit.

As a suggestion look for PATA, formerly IDE, drives and avoid a SATA card like the plague. There is no appreciable speed difference as the system bu speed negates any SATA advantage.
