Hey People,

I'm looking to replace my beloved PowerMac from 2004. I'm a dual user, own both Mac & Windows systems. My PC is for gaming and ripping my Bluray discs which I usually playback on my WD HDTV Live. But I love to watch most videos on my Mac because I have a better sound system on it then my HDTV.

My PowerMac struggles to playback some 720p .mkv videos and forget 1080p it's a slide show!

My main uses for my Mac are light Photoshop, Lightroom, & video playback.

So, can a MacMini playback 1080p .mkv files buttery smooth? (I use VLC player for both Mac and PC)

TIA

Yes. I have the latest base model with 2 gigs RAM serving as an HTPC and it plays everything I've thrown at it without a hitch.
