I hooked my Mac Pro to a widescreen TV (it's also hooked to my cinema display at the same time), but it's not really as good as I thought it would be. I hooked up to the widescreen in order to show my pictures in hi resolution without having to use a media device. But here are the issues and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions:
-When I connect my TV to my computer it automatically gets detected and monitor spanning turns on. This looks good on my TV, but there are times when I don't want spanning (or mirroring) to occur. I'd like the TV to no longer be recognized by my mac when I don't want to view photos. So far the only way to completely disconnect the tv is by unplugging the cable from the back of my mac pro. Is there any other way to get around this? If that's the only option, I think I might just return the cable.
-When I turn on mirroring, is it normal for my Cinema Display to change it's resolution and no longer fill the screen. Is my Cinema Display just matching the widescreen resolution? There's no way to get my cinema display to stay its higher resolution?
I'm thinking an Apple TV or PS3 might be a better option to view photos?
