not reading cd or dvd in drive

I was burning a DVD. When I got back to the computer, had an error message that disc could not be verified and to try another. Inserted another DVD, pressed burn, and was asked to insert a blank dvd (which I had already done).

I decided to see if a cd worked, and inserted a cd which I had ripped to iTunes earlier today. CD drive makes some noises, and then ejects cd. Any ideas appreciated, or am I taking advantage of my extended warranty? Thanks.

Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaner kit. You can purchased one at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Office Depot, or any vendor who sells computer accessories.

If cleaning the drive doesn't work, it's time to take advantage of Apple care.
